About
Peter McDonald
Product, operations & practical AI. Based in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Most ideas die in the gap between "this could work" and "this actually shipped and found customers." Closing that gap — fast, and without the theatre — is the thing I can't stop thinking about.
I'm a product and operations leader with close to a decade scaling a B2B SaaS business end to end. I took a product function from a team of one (me, cheerfully out of my depth) to a real discipline, ran company-wide operations through a major transition, and led pricing, GTM, and the commercial end along the way. I think in operating models, not org charts.
These days the operating model I think in is AI-native. In my day job I lead AI transformation strategy; on my own time I've built the methods I write about here — agentic engineering workflows, signal-ingestion loops, an AI-assisted product operating system. The thesis is the same one on the front page: AI as an operating model, not a feature. It's how the gap actually closes.
If you're a founder or operator trying to get from idea to product to traction with less drag, this site is for you. I build as well as advise, so treat the writing as field notes, not theory.
Always up for a sharp problem, a strong flat white, and a system that hums. The writing is the long version, working together is where it turns into a plan, and LinkedIn is where I think out loud.
